Application for a Practising Certificate for practice in a Singapore Law Practice via Services Portal
In addition to the existing method of application via eLitigation or at the Service Bureau, a person who wishes to apply for a Practising Certificate for practice in a Singapore Law Practice pursuant to the provisions of the Legal Profession Act 1966 (LPA) may now also file the necessary application for a Practising Certificate using the Services Portal.
Prerequisites for Electronic Applications
Before a solicitor (the applicant) may apply for his or her PC, the following prerequisites must be satisfied:
- The applicant must be on the Roll of Advocates and Solicitors and must have an Advocate and Solicitor Admission Number (AAS number).
- The applicant must have a valid NRIC number or FIN number and valid SingPass login credentials.
- The applicant must not have a pending PC application in respect of the practice year for which the electronic application is being made.
- The applicant must have, if required, an Accountant's Report prepared in accordance with section 73 of the Legal Profession Act 1966 and the Legal Profession (Accountant's Report) Rules.
- The applicant must have obtained the necessary insurance coverage for the practice year for which the PC application is being made.
- With effect from the practice year commencing 1 April 2015, the applicant must have details of the specified pro bono services provided by the applicant, if any, as defined in the Legal Profession (Mandatory Reporting of Specified Pro Bono Services) Rules 2015.
- The applicant must be applying for a Practising Certificate for practice in a Singapore Law Practice.
